A summer home is in the process of being built in Northern Wisconsin on North Two Lake around the Lake Tomahack area, this is a tourist destination filled with lakes for fishing , swimming, boating and all other water sports and activities ... a very beautiful area to build a log home. Lovely down town for shopping !

Rick DuPrey, the lucky homeowner , who is his own general contractor, a smart and thrifty decision which many should consider, has a lot that is about 2 acres heavily wooded, on the lake shore, he plans to build a Tulip Poplar 8 x 8 D shape FULL log 1500 square foot home, walk out basement, screened in porch, 2 side wrap around deck and will have a full standing half log sided garage. a show piece. Will be blogging the entire process from start to finish!
Getting this home started has had its problems not due however to PATRIOT or the homeowner, mostly delays have been due to rain which put off concrete for quite some time , and permits were delayed because of the proximity to the lake which involved the DNR. Patriot Home builders worked with the delays and the homeowner. However an unnecessary and tragic delay has occurred due to seemingly incompetency from the outside building source, namely Home Depot.
DELAY caused by Home Depot
Logs were delivered on August 19 2011, right on time from Grizzly Log homes, Patriot unloaded the shipment. The work on the home has been delayed sadly as HOME DEPOT failed to deliver the sub-floor material, in fact they delivered everything but the needed materials, including the roof trusses for the garage. (fountain is not pored yet). Mike HOmpertz went personally to Home depot in Rhinelander twice to make clear what was needed. After stating (with 2 other witness ) that he needed the floor Joice and not the trusses, this company sent what he clearly stated he did not need.
This delay has been disheartening for both home owner and builder. This should warn any homeowner of the importance of choosing where, in the Midwest the choices often boil down to Menards or Home Depot , when buying other materials for your log home. It is important to note for instance that Menard's stocks their materials, Home Depot subs out!, they do not hold inventory in stock ! This is why the necessary materiel will not arrive until Tuesday , four days after the crew arrived. The sub does not work on Weekends!
Interior plans~both Rustic yet elegant
Interior work contracted by Patriot Log home builders. Here we see a picture of a model of what in the inside shall look like for the DuPrey Kitchen. Earthy, homey, natural yet still elegant. The interior work will be done this winter.
